About OmanMap.org

OmanMap.org is an independent, free reference of interactive maps of Oman — cities, governorates, ports, airports, forts, wadis, beaches, hikes and more — with short notes on each place and embed codes for every map.

What this site is

OmanMap.org plots places worth knowing about in Oman on one consistent base map, grouped into categories and city pages, plus reference pages on governorates, wilayats, regions, climate and distances. It is not affiliated with the Government of Oman, any ministry, port operator or airline.

The data

The places dataset is open and available as JSON at /data/places.json. Coordinates are approximate (generally taken from OpenStreetMap and checked against other public sources) and are meant for orientation and trip planning, not navigation. Opening hours, prices and access rules change often in Oman — always check locally. Base map tiles are © OpenStreetMap contributors; maps are rendered with Leaflet.

The GPX files on the hiking, 4×4 and road-trip pages contain waypoints only (trailheads, towns, stops), not recorded GPS tracks.

Every map can be embedded with a single iframe — see embed our maps. Please keep the attribution link visible.

Privacy

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits. See the privacy page for details.

Corrections

Places, roads and rules change. If you spot a wrong location or out-of-date information, the best fix is often to improve OpenStreetMap directly; we periodically recheck our data against it.
